A remodeling project will run very smoothly and be successful with lots of preparation, planning, and using the right subcontractors… like us! We help walk you through the process and help make sure it’s a smooth process.
If you’ll be living in your home during the remodeling project, there a few things to keep in mind to help make you through the process.
PART 1: Embrace your remodeling process
If you’re planning on iving in your home during the remodeling project, as most of our clients do, the best thing to do is embrace the process. Your General Contractor will put up dust barriers in your kitchen or bathroom to keep the dust from going throughout the house. We won’t lie though - this will be a little tough, but just for a few weeks and then you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Once your remodel is completed, we promise that you won’t remember all the inconveniences you had to endure.
Suggestions for the construction phase:
- If you need to go in and out of the remodeling space keep a pair of shoes near the plastic dust barrier to keep from tracking dirt throughout your house.
- Dust in a remodel is inevitable, but keeping the plastic dust barriers up and closed will keep the dust to a minimum in the other rooms.
- If you’re worried about furniture getting dusty in nearby rooms, cover with sheets or blankets to keep them dust-free
- Create a small makeshift kitchen in your dining room or nearby room. Stock up on paper plates, disposable utensils, microwaveable foods, etc.
- Save up those restaurant coupons - when you’re feeling overwhelmed, eating out or getting takeout will make it less stressful for you.
- If you can, take a small vacation. Sometimes a few days away from the jobsite will make a huge difference. We are happy to work with you via Zoom or Facetime to keep you updated if you’re worried about any details.
- Remember… It’s all just TEMPORARY! Your dream kitchen will be waiting for you soon enough.
